Bye bye baby

“Bye bye baby: I brought my baby to NYU and found that him being cute is not the same as being welcome,” Washington Square News, Oct. 5. 2026.
In 17 years as a professor at NYU, I have never seen a student with a baby stroller in our buildings. Not a single one. This strikes me as statistically improbable. Nearly one in five American undergraduates are parents. NYU surely has fewer, given its younger student population, but even a fraction should produce the occasional stroller.
And yet: no babies.
